Montfoort Castle
Montfoort
Not everything from the original Montfoort Castle has survived. In 1672, a large part of the castle was destroyed by French troops. Among other things, the historic gatehouse and parts of the outer bailey still serve as reminders of the time when the burgraves exercised their power here. It’s a fitting backdrop for a city full of stories about conflict, power, and escape.
