Nancy, 1763. Kunstenaar Pierre-François Hugues d’Hancarville verdient bakken met geld met het vervalsen van klassieke werken. De charlatan moet maken dat hij wegkomt! Louche figuren praatten weleens over een geheime uitgang om kunst in en uit de stad te smokkelen. Dit is zijn kans om te ontsnappen aan de soldaten van prins Lodewijk! Pierre heeft geen tijd te verliezen en gaat snel op zoek naar de locatie.
