De 18e eeuw stond voor velen in het teken van de wereld ontdekken. Zo ook voor de Britse \\\'Kleine James\\\', die niets liever wilde dan op zoek gaan naar nieuwe gebieden en beroemd worden. Zijn bijbaantje maakte hem niet gelukkig en zijn besluit stond vast: hij wilde ontdekkingsreiziger worden! Al snel was iedereen vol lof over hem. Zijn moed, leiderschap en navigatievaardigheden waren ongekend. Het duurde dan ook niet lang voordat James tot commandant werd benoemd van het schip Endeavour. Kleine James werd Captain Cook!
Ondanks zijn goede zeevaarders skills leed James bijna schipbreuk tijdens één van zijn avonturen. Het schip strandde voor een gigantisch eiland genaamd Terra Australia. James was de wanhoop nabij, dit was niet de bedoeling! Het was nu zaak zijn schip zo snel mogelijk weer in het water te krijgen. Op zoek naar hulp dus! De nabijgelegen stad, die nu Brisbane heet, bood uitkomst. Maar daar bleek dat de navigatievaardigheden van James beter waren op zee, dan op het land. James was verdwaald en wist niet meer hoe hij uit Brisbane moest wegkomen. De tijd begon wel te dringen, want er was een storm op komst.
