In 1904, the renowned Chilean poet Pablo Neruda was born. He discovered his passion for language early on, and by the age of sixteen, he had published his first poetry collection. However, writing alone didn’t bring in enough income, so he took a different path and became a diplomat.

Through his work, he traveled the world. In 1943, Neruda returned to Chile, where he gained increasing political influence and joined the Chilean Communist Party. His outspoken nature became evident when President González Videla cracked down on a miners’ strike. Nerdua was strongly opposed to this and did not remain quiet about it! This bold stance forced him to go into hiding immediately.
