When Lumey was on his way to Enkhuizen with his Sea Beggars' fleet, a storm forced him to Brielle. It wasn't his plan, but it worked out perfectly. The Spanish forces there were understaffed, so they were able to easily capture the city. The Catholic priests and friars were forced out to make way for Protestant beliefs. Lumey then went on a murderous rampage, which enraged William of Orange. His influence was so great that Lumey was forced to flee!
